Journal Entry: Sun Jun 28, 2009, 12:39 AM

:iconaussiesteve1961:Is my soul mate!:iconwuvplz: Steves art:eyes: !!

On the 8th of June, Money the cat left our home, to a new home with new owners.

On the 9th of June (Tuesday) morning, Dad is out working and he feels this unusual numbness in his arm and jaw. Takes himself to the small local medical centre.
Doctor sends him to the hospital by ambulance which the closet one for us is 1 1/2 hours away.
Dad spends three nights in this hospital and they do tests on him to see what has caused the problem. Doctors in that hospital arent happy with the results and send him down on to City hospital by Royal flying doctors. He gets put into ICC (Intensive critical care) Its a ward with 12 beds and toliets and 1 shower for all those patients, which isnt very good. Dad spends one week in this crazy mad ward. Too many patients in one area and not enough facilities.
On the 15th of June dad goes in for a dye test and the results come back that he has 3 blocked artery's right on top of the heart. The blockage is 80%, which isn t good news. If he has a seizure on the operation table they usually die.
Dad rings mum to tell her the news, Dad was beside himself, mum was too. A good friend came around to our place and the three( David Steve and I) of us went to see mum.
Mum packed her bags and left town with David on the 16th of June, they drove straight down to the city hospital.(which is 7hrs away from home)
My brother and his girlfriend looked after Mum and visited Dad everyday.
Then on the 21st of June I flew down to city.. the plane left here at 3.15pm (Sunday) with only 4 people on board it stopped at one town and picked up about 20 more people. I sat by myself and had a cup of tea and talked to the airline hostess. Got into Perth at 5.15pm. Got off the plane and it was freezing cold, did the long walk to the terminal and James ( my brother) was waiting for me.
He grabbed my bags and we left the airport, straight for City Hospital.
Got to the Hospital, Dad and Mum were pleased to see me , gave Dad his brown bear to keep him company. Wow in one town then in the big smoke , it was like magic, that whole afternoon and evening.
Don't know how many times we washed our hands with this pink alcohol stuff every time you enter the room.. It was sticky stuff that dried on your hands in 15 seconds.

On Monday the 22nd of June James, Amm Mum and I went to see Dad at the 10.30am visit, Dad wasn't allowed lunch. As he had to have the balloon inserted into him . We had to take all Dads gear away except for his glasses..
We had to leave at 12.30pm. We couldn't get back to see Dad until 7.00pm due to waiting for the balloon to go in. When we did get to go back Dad had to lay flat on his back, as he wasn't allowed to move. Dad had a nurse stay with him the whole time. Nurse Judith let us 4 stay a little longer over visiting hours. We left just after 8.30pm.
Tuesday the 23rd of June, woke up early as usual, all the morning we watched the clock. We told Dad that we would be close by, so we spent the time in city, it was a very windy rainy, grey cold day. James dropped Mum and I off at sub way to get some lunch , which we ordered lunch and got it in no time at all James picked us up and took us to the south Mole( its a boating area) to eat our lunch.
We watched people moving around , boats on the water and the rain. I had Mums phone on my lap when it started to ring at 12.30pm. It was the hospital , they said the operation went well and Dad would going into intestive care in 3/4 of an hour. We were all so happy and relieved.
James,Amm, Mum and I went to the ICU (Intestive care Unit) that night. Only allowed two visitors at a time, dad was sleeping peacefully and had many tubes coming out of him. But he wasn't in pain like the night before we when saw him before(Monday).
Wednesday the 24th of June.
Mum rang the (ICU) for find out how Dad went during the night. They said he was sleeping and they would be waking him that afternoon and taking out his breathing tube. So we had to wait before we could visit. So Amm, James Mum and I went to the Rivers clothing store in Morley. We then had lunch at the shopping centre.
We had a very early dinner before dashing off to the hospital, which is aleast 1/2 drive away each time, and the traffic was always busy .
As we were making our way to the hospital Mum s phone went off and it was Dad he was awake and we told him we would be at the hospital in 15 minutes to see him.
Its very very strict in the ICU , they have doors that shut to keep you out, so the three of us took in turns to see Dad, it was fantastic to see him awake after this huge operation. Which before they woke him up they removed the balloon inside him.
St Johns Sub centre sent a big bunch of flowers to Dad, but Dad never got to see them as no flowers are allowed in the ICU . So they at my brothers house.
Dad was very tired and we left the hospital on closing time at 8pm.
Thursday the 25th of June we left at 9.30pm to go the the hospital to spend the whole day visiting. Mum rang the ICU to see how Dad was doing and they said he was doing good considering what he had been through and they would be shifting him to another ward.
So when we arrived we saw Dad for 5 minutes before sitting in the waiting room, 20 minutes later he got wheeled past and down the corridor which we followed, Dad went the patient way and we went the visitors way.
Went up to WARD 8 was wheeled into his spot then we were able to visit. They only permitted 2 visitors at a time again in this section, so I asked if it would be all right the three of us visit as I was flying home the next day, they said it was okay.
Dad looked very good , ate all his lunch, his first full meal since Sunday. Then it was rest time again for all patients. On our return back to the ward to visit, the nurse looking after Dad said he was just about to have his tubes out so just to wait for 15 minutes. Which we did and then when we went back in Dad wasn't feeling too good, as the pain in his leg and having the tube removed.
On Dads left leg is were they took the vein out to mend the blocked artery the vein in his leg run from his ankle to his thigh and it would be aleast 1 1/2 inches wide, it was black / brownish colour were the vein had been removed. Dad was in a lot of pain with his leg.
We stayed right until 8pm as this was my last visit to the hospital.
Friday the 26th left the city at 10.15am and had a good flight home , well that was until we hit some rough weather closer to home but got in at 11.55am. Steve was waiting for me at the very small country airport. Only 10 of us on this flight and 7 got off in Kalbarri. The other 3 were then flown down to another town. The plane sits 46 people.
Spoken to Dad on the 28th of June and he has all the tubes out now and has had a couple of bad nights due to other patients, so he has been shifted again to a quieter spot and is resting comfortable now. He still has congestion on his chest and and a slight temperature, which the hospital is monitoring.
Should be home either the 29th or the 30th of June.
